Come October, the intense summer heat has eased. The island becomes more comfortable for hiking, riding, exploring villages and discovering hidden corners. Lefkada’s mountains, gorges and coastal landscapes offer plenty of opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and enduro motorbiking, while the surrounding Ionian waters are ideal for explorations by boat, swimming, kitesurfing and more.
And perhaps best of all: you get more of Lefkada to yourself.
No August rush. No need to plan every beach visit around crowds. Just long days outside, good food, salty swims and adventures whenever the mood takes you.
Kite season isn’t over yet
For kiters, October is a different kind of opportunity.
The main thermal season in Lefkada is strongest through the warmer months, but conditions can extend into October, depending on the weather.

Explore Lefkada from the water
One of our favourite ways to experience Lefkada is from the sea. And October is a fantastic time for a speedboat day cruise.
Leave the harbour behind and head towards the spectacular coastline, secluded beaches, turquoise bays and nearby islands. From the water, Lefkada looks completely different. Cliffs, caves, beaches and tiny coves that are difficult or impossible to reach by road suddenly become accessible.
A boat day is also the perfect complement to a kite trip: one day you’re riding the wind, the next you’re cruising across the Ionian Sea, swimming, snorkelling and exploring some of the beautiful waters around the island.
No beach towels packed next to dozens of other tourists. Just a boat, the sea and the Ionian coastline.
Hiking in Lefkada: mountains, views and quiet trails
October might actually be one of the nicest months to discover Lefkada on foot, bringing more comfortable temperatures and beautiful changing light.
Head into the mountains and you’ll discover a side of Lefkada that many summer visitors barely see.
Walk through olive groves and traditional villages. Follow mountain roads and trails. Stop for a coffee or a long Greek lunch. Climb higher for views across the Ionian Sea and the surrounding islands.
